The basic conditions for an effective extraction of sodium ions and sour components from coal tar is achieving of the maximal surface of contact of tar and water and the use as an extraction agent of water with a minimum possible initial concentration of sodium ions. Several variants of tar washing schemes are offered to the plant: a) supply of washing agent as steam; b) washing of CT by water. The most effective sheme from the point of view of removing alkaline metals ions and sour water soluble components from tar is one with supply of water into tar as steam followed by subsequent centrifugal division of phases.
