Head Toryanik E.I., Registration Date 26-10-2006 Organization Ukrainian State Researsh Institute for Carbochemistry popup.description2 The properties of many components of the plant raw base for coking were studied. It included the analysis of ash composition of coals from Ukraine and Russia, as well as some coals from the USA and Australia. It was established that at forming of coke quality as per the CRI and CSR indices it is important the mineral part composition, rank and caking ability of the coals. The additional criterion for optimization of coke quality indices was the index of ash basicity (Io) which shouldn't exceed 2,5 for high quality coke (CRI and CSR). Pilot tests established the influence of Io index in a range of 4,5-2,54 (due to the change of basin, grade and component composition of a blend). The decreasing the Io value to absolute unit results in reduction of CRI by 4,7% abs. and to the increase in CSR by 11,8% abs. The results allowed to give the recommendations for different quality coke taking into account the requirements of customers, including the production of experimental lots with the level of CRI and CSR indices that meets the exported coke requirements.
