The purpose of the work is production technology mastering of vibrocast products from fused zirconia stabilized by MgO. The research methods are chemical, X-ray phase, petrographic, electron microscopic ones. The pilot crucibles have been produced, the technology has been mastered and the production of a new type of products - vibrocast crucibles from melted ZrО2 stabilized by MgO has been organized. The produced crucibles will be tested in the course of platinum induction melting. The phase and chemical composition of different parts of fused block resulted from electric arc fusion of ZrО2 with stabilized addition of MgO has been studied. It has been determined that the block has zonal structure. The central part of the block (~80 - 85 %) is characterized by uniform structure, persistence of phase composition and it is represented by 88- 90 % of cubic solid solution and by 10 - 12 % of monoclinic ZrО2, mass fraction of ZrО2+HfO2 - 93,90 %, MgO - 3,55 % and is suitable for production of shaped and unshaped refractories. The technology instruction stipulating the production of fused block of ZrО2 stabilized by MgO has been developed and confirmed. The pilot lots of crucibles based on ZrО2 stabilized by CaO delivered to the customers in the full volume have been produced in OJSC "The Ukrainian research institute of refractories named after A.S. Berezhnoy". The work shall be continued in the line of refractory technology improvement from melted zirconia stabilized by MgO and widening the volumes of the application.
