Owing to this property the compounds on study could serve as luminescent probes for biologi-cally and medically oriented investigations The synthesis and structure investigation was conducted to the series of phenyl esters of ac-ridine-9-carboxylic acid. The spectral parameters of the studied esters and their sensitivity to the prop-erties of surrounding and to the substituent effects were studied. The nature of electronic transitions in the molecules of the acridinic esters and the intramolecular mechanisms of their fluorescence quench-ing were elucidated on the base of quantum-chemical calculations and the experimental UV-Vis spec-tral data. The mechanism of acridine-9-carboxylic acid esters oxidation, which results in the appearance of their chemiluminescence emission, was investigated. The quantitative kinetic parameters of its rate de-termining elementary stadii were evaluated. The acridine esters based chemiluminescent method for the quantitative determination of the redox parameters suitable to study different biological samples, plant and animal extracts, medical drugs, etc. were elaborated and tested in comparison with traditional approaches applied for investigation of antioxidative ability. The newly synthesized 3-hydroxychromone derivatives prospective for their exploration as rati-ometric fluorescent probes were investigated as well. The unusual effect of the negative solvatochrom-ism, which is not typical to any previously studied 3-hydroxychromones, were elucidated and clarified for the compound of the studied series.
