The PbB4O7 and LiB3O5 single crystals of high optical quality were grown with sizes not less than 20 mm in a diameter and 20 mm long. Ultrasound properties of PbB4O7 and LiB3O5 crystals were investigated. Minimal ultrasound velocity in crystals was determined by calculation of inverse ultrasound velocities surfaces and then acoustooptical quality coefficient was determined. Piezooptical and photoelastic properties of strontium and lead borate crystals were investigated. Technology of vacuum diffusion welding of piezotransducers to sound waveguides made from borate crystals family was developed. Characteristic parameters of welding process were determined.
