The tube billets coming to tube production of new steel grades and hardly deformed nickel and iron-nickel based alloys were analyzed from the point of view of possibility of their production using extrusion press installations of Volzhsk Tube Works JSC. This work determined basic parameters of tube extrusion process and technological support of production of tubes of nickel and iron-nickel alloys was carried out. After analysis of their quality, final correction of extrusion process was done. Because deformation resistance of metal varied depending on the shell heat-up temperature, and their dimensions, this work calculated its maximum value during extrusion of tubes of product range of tube shop 2 which makes it possible to make timely decisions on the possibility of production of tubes of any size range. Besides, analysis of the existing tube production process at tube shop 2 has shown higher tube scrap quantities due to surface defects. Thus, the list of problems solved in this work, has been extended by analysis of causes of tube defects and recommendations on defect cause elimination have been developed.
