The influence of defects on luminescent and scintillation characteristics of crystals was investigated. The recommendations regarding a method of obtaining crystals with improved scintillation parameters were elaborated. The samples of textured composite scintillator based on nano- and microcrystalline granules of CdWO4, ZnWO4, ZnSe (Te) and ZnSe (Al) were made.
