The purpose of article is development of theoretical, scientific and methodical principles of creation of ecological information system and estimation of its cost. In article the analysis of the financial and statistical reporting which reflects the ecological information in Ukraine and abroad was carried out; the basic directions of reforming of system of the ecological reporting in Ukraine are determined. In work formulas of estimation of cost of the ecological information at a level of the State committee of statistics, regional, city managements of statistics and the enterprises have been offered.
