The role of this society in the development of medical science in the preparation of the optimal forms of organization of the medical service in Odessa in the sphere of studying the factors of treatment in Odessa region in the formation of medical charity in the 50th 60th years of the XIX century. Впервые подробно освещается история организации и деятельности одного из первых медицинских обществ Украины – Общества одесских врачей (1849). Показана роль этого общества в развитии медицинской науки, в выработке оптимальных форм организации медицинского дела в Одессе, в изучении лечебных факторов Одесского региона, в медицинской благотворительности в 50–60-х годах XIX в.
