Автор пропонує поглянути на ці університети у темпоральному та просторовому контексті. The paper is devoted to the analyses of the processes of establishing of this social institution and its organizational and institutional peculiarities. Author observed the processes of the origin of the first universities through temporal and spatial contexts. In temporal context university is a kind of mechanism of transmitting knowledge from past to present; in spatial context the origin of university is connected with the moving of the main form of economical, social and cultural activities to cities. Main trends of university education in late Middle Ages, which was the birth of the university as a social institution, directly involved and crucial for understanding the further development of European civilization are traced.
