Ensuring the safe air quality levels is one of the major priority issues of the Ukrainian state policy. This places the task of improving ecological safety, which is possible to achieve through implementation of complex approach to assessment of health risks related to environmental pollution, and air pollution in particular, to the list of top objectives. This research is focusing on the analysis of human health risk related to industrial air pollution formed by various types of enterprises in four Ukrainian cities: Kyv, Zaporizhia, Cherkassy and Druzhkivka. The standard human health risk assessment methodology approach was implied. The results revealed that human health risks in Kyiv, where most of the pollution is attributed to combined heat and power enterprises, were within the range ICRtotal = 8,8x1 Oe-^4,5x104. In Zaporizhia with dominating metal industry estimates were at ICRtotal = 1,4x102,3x104. Risk levels from chemical industry in Cherkassy and from machine building enterprises of Druzhkivka were at ICRtotal = 2,7x10 s±4,6x10 4 and ICRtotal = 1,8x106 *2,5x104 correspondingly. The described research helped to decide on the medical and environmental priorities in studied cities, to create preconditions for determining the acceptable risk levels and evelopment of a national air quality assessment system for working out preventive and environmental protection programs.
