Статья представляет собой предварительное исследование вопросов степени тождественности концептуального наполнения социально значимых этноспецифических концептов за пределами исходящей лингвокультуры. Внимание фокусируется на изучении метафорической объективации концепта МАЙДАН, структурирующей его перцептивно-образный слой. Анализ проводится на материале немецкоязычного дискурса Интернет-СМИ как одной из самых актуальных информационных сред для целевой лингвокультуры Present paper represents one in a series of papers devoted to the problems of current conceptual equivalence of the mental units known as concepts. The study considers ethno-specific concept MAIDAN and the way it is transferred to a different culture (German) due to its role in understanding the current socio-political developments on the post-Soviet space, Ukraine’s strivings for European inclusion, as well as the social and political value of the Euromaidan phenomenon for the citizens of Europe. The concept of maidan, as covered by the German media, is being approached from the semantic-cognitive perspective which regards its model as a multi-layer formation, consisting of notional, perceptive-imaginative and evaluative parts. Of particular interest to us are the metaphorical representations of maidan found in the media discourse that structure the perceptive-imaginative layer of the concept and serve as a basis for building associations and subsequent judgments. Thus, within the prime objectives of the research are both identification and interpretation of cognitive metaphors found in discourse and regarded as conceptual features of the corresponding layer. We believe, the prospects of further investigation into the topic lie within the comparative layer-by-layer analysis of the concept actualization aimed at defining the level of foreign mass media objectivity in covering the events that took place in Kiev in 2013–2014.
