A subgroup of deodorants, antiperspirants, affect odor as well as prevent sweating by affecting sweat glands. Deodorants are classified and regulated as cosmetics by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and are designed to eliminate odor. Deodorants are often alcohol-based.
