Among the lesions of echinococcosis of various organs and tissues, the incidence of liver damage varies from 44 to 84%. WHO has been reporting an increase in echinococcosis since 2006, not only in rural areas, but also among urban populations, largely due to the increased migration of rural populations to cities; low level of prophylactic medical examination of the population; unsolved socioeconomic and sanitary-epidemiological problems; as well as the introduction of high-tech research methods into clinical practice, which made it possible to increase the detectability of patients with echinococcosis. Echinococcosis is widespread everywhere − on all continents, with the exception of Antarctica. In Ukraine, echinococcosis is more often recorded in the southern regions − Odessa, Kherson, Nikolaev, Donetsk, Zaporozhye, in others sporadic cases occur. Echinococcosis is a severe, chronic, parasitic disease that occurs as a result of the impact on the body of the larval form of the ribbon helminth Echinococcus granulosus.Echinococcus granulosus (singlechambered echinococcus) − the causative agent of hydatidosis echinococcosis, belongs to the class Cestoda, the family Taeniidae.
