Aim. Approachesto MAF treatment are different among clinics around the world Lack of randomized clinical studies leads to divergence in reliability of information about quality of treatment. The aim of this research was to determine features of treatment patients with MAF, frequency of complications and their solutions. Objects and methods. A prospective study was conducted. All the patients with isolated or combined MAF, were treated conservatively or surgically using ] or 2 titanium plates. The statistical significance of the frequency of postoperative com¬plications. depending on the chosen method of treatment, was calculated with Pear¬son x-squared test. Results. General number of patients, who required treatment, was 63 persons. 28 patients (44.2%) were treated with intermaxillary fixation. Other, 35 patients (55.8%) were treated surgically. During following up period, in 14 cases (41.1%) different complications were registrated. 8 patients (23.5%) were reoperated, plate removing has been perform. After statistical data processing advantages of surgical treatment of MAF using 2 plates were not obtained. Conclusion. Surgical treatment was necessary in 55.8% cases in patients with MAF.
