To apply faster and stand out, candidates use automated tools for CV generation and rewriting. This research is dedicated to improving the user experience of Workaround, a service that automatically creates CVs based on the job posting and the candidate’s experience. A crucial component of user experience is usability – the measure of ease with which the users can utilize the product to achieve their goals. This work aimed to enhance three aspects of usabil- ity that Workaround had problems with: efficiency, learnability, and the number of errors. To complete these tasks, we utilized a combination of qualitative and quanti- tative techniques of the user-centered design approach, such as the System Usability Scale survey, moderated usability testing, and the Keystroke-Level Model. The re- search followed a classical design thinking process: empathy, definition, ideation, prototyping, and testing. As a result, we identified existing improvement zones of Workaround, created personas and a customer journey map, formulated a backlog of features and prioritized it. Testing of the prototype has shown that we were man- aged to decrease the time to completion for one of the key tasks by 4%, improve learnability, and decrease the number of errors users make on the way to their fi- nal goal. We concluded the project with suggestions for further improvement of the Workaround user experience.
