The significance of the chosen topic is high, because in 2022 Russian military aggression against Ukraine has caused unprecedent internal and external migration of pediatric patients with cancer along with significant shortage of resources in Ukrainian healthcare. The search of literature has identified the evidence on the positive effect of centralization of pediatric hematology/oncology providers system on the quality of childhood cancer survival, the methodology of evidence-based quality improvement interventions in pediatric oncology and the reports of resilience value of pediatric oncology healthcare systems in the hostile environment of crisis, pandemic, or war. The quality improvement methodology will be used in the settings of patient safety while receiving key delivery services that define cancer treatment – chemotherapy, infection control, supportive care, and blood transfusions. The proposed QI project activities are planned to be performed using the Translating Evidence into Practice (TRIP) framework. The outputs of the proposed thesis project are the developed four Quality Improvement Interventions in Clinical Center of Children’s Healthcare and reaching the appropriate capacity for serving as the resilient referral destination of childhood cancer cases in Ukraine. The PRoFILE tool is expected to provide the tracking of progress of pediatric oncology/hematology system in four planned quality improvement projects. At least 76% of maximal score is expected to be achieved in the modules of supportive care, service capacity, service integration and chemotherapy, which refers to a level A Pediatric Cancer Center. With successful execution of the quality improvement intervention, it is expected to achieve the goal of creating the guide for sustainable quality improvement interventions to establish the resilient pediatric cancer Center of Excellence in a chosen supercluster hospital.
