These terms pose challenges for translation and cross-cultural communication because they may carry specific cultural meanings, connotations, or nuances that are difficult to convey accurately in another language. The relevance of this problem lies in the fact that in the modern world, internationalization and globalization increasingly require the translation of texts of various types and spheres of activity. R. Zorivchak, O. Lazorivska, L. Barkhudarov, O. Danylko, M. Kocherhan, V. Kostomarov, A. Voloshyna, N. Myropolska, and others deal with the issue of non equivalent lexicon and the problems of its translation within the framework of text adaptation. This work aims to look at the classification of a non-equivalent lexicon and its ways of translation and analyze it in Holly Black’s novel Cruel Prince with its Ukrainian translation.
