Забруднене повітря має шкідливий вплив на здоров'я людини, а саме на дихальну та серцево-судинну систему. Моніторинг повітря дозволяє визначити рівні забруднення та їх вплив на довкілля і людину. Проведення досліджень в першу чергу зазвичай потребує великих витрат, але не ліхеноіндикація, використання лишайників досить доцільно та зручно. Ліхеноіндикація не потребує ні спеціального обладнання, ні великих економічних витрат (інструменти для проведення досліджень можна зробити із підручних матеріалів не затрачуючи велику кількість часу та ресурсів), а розрахунки можуть бути проведені як в ручну, так і за допомогою спеціального програмного забезпечення (Microsoft Excel), а саме основне цей метод дозволяє зробити досить точні судження про стан атмосфери, а в силу цього всього вона є одним з тих способів, що можуть бути використані, як для приватних досліджень зацікавлених осіб, так і для великих досліджень стану повітря в конкретному місті. Monitoring the state of the air is an important task, which is becoming in the modern world oriented towards industrial progress, polluted air has a harmful effect on human health: respiratory and cardiovascular systems, monitoring the air allows changing the level of pollution and their impact on the environment and person. Research in the first place usually requires large costs, but not lichen indication, the use of lichens is quite expedient and convenient. Lichenoindication does not require special equipment or large economic costs (tools for conducting research can be made from improvised materials without spending a lot of time and resources), and calculations can be carried out both manually and with the help of special software (Microsoft Excel).
