Актуальність дослідження обумовлена позачасовістю філософської течії та літератури екзистенціалізму. Метою дослідження є проаналізувати провідні концепції екзистенціалізму та філософії А. Камю, а також їхнє втілення в українських перекладах повісті « L’Étranger ». Об'єктом дослідження є повість французького письменника А. Камю « L’Étranger » та українські переклади цього твору «Чужий» та «Сторонній», виконані А. Перепадею та П. Таращуком відповідно. Предмет дослідження становлять складники естетики екзистенціалізму та способи її відтворення українською мовою. У кваліфікаційній роботі були використані такі методи дослідження, як метод лінгвістичного аналізу, інтерпретативний аналіз і метод компаративного аналізу. У першому розділі розглянуто явище екзистенціалізму у філософії та літературі, зокрема його становлення та розвиток на тлі історичних подій. Досліджено естетику екзистенціалізму, а також особливості екзистенціальних ідей А. Камю та їхня маніфестація у творчості автора. Другий розділ роботи присвячений проблематиці адекватності художнього перекладу та доцільності явища множинності перекладів. Третій розділ фокусується на аналізі оригінального твору у світлі засадничих концепцій та ідей екзистенціалізму, а також аналізі та порівнянні перекладацьких рішень та трансформацій у двох українських перекладах. Наше дослідження продемонструвало, що українські переклади А. Камю суттєво відрізняються на рівні інтерпретації певних фрагментів оригіналу. А. Перепадя у своєму перекладі «Сторонній» тяжіє до шляхів одомашнення оригіналу твору, водночас П. Таращук зі своїм перекладом «Чужий» застосовує здебільшого стратегію очуження. З'ясовано, що відстань у 28 років між двома українськими перекладами повісті А. Камю « L’Étranger » не має значного впливу на їхні відмінності, а це радше зумовлено саме інтерпретаційною варіативністю завдяки феномену перекладної множинності This bachelor's thesis is devoted to analyzing the ways in which the aesthetics of existentialism are manifested in Albert Camus' novel « L’Étranger » in two Ukrainian translations. The relevance of the study is due to the timelessness of the philosophical movement and literature of existentialism. The purpose is to explore the leading concepts of existentialism and the philosophy of A. Camus, as well as their representation in Ukrainian translations of the novel « L’Étranger ». The object of the study is the novel by French writer A. Camus, « L’Étranger », and the Ukrainian translations of this work, «Чужий» and «Сторонній», by A. Perepadia and P. Tarashchuk, respectively. The subject of the study is the components of existentialist aesthetics and the ways in which it is reproduced in the Ukrainian language. The following research methods were used in the thesis: linguistic analysis, interpretative analysis, and comparative analysis. The first chapter examines the phenomenon of existentialism in philosophy and literature, in particular its formation and development against the backdrop of historical events. The aesthetics of existentialism are explored, as well as the peculiarities of A. Camus' existential ideas and their manifestation in the author's work. The second chapter of the work is dedicated to the issues of the adequacy of literary translation and the expediency of the phenomenon of retranslation. The third chapter focuses on the analysis of the original work in the light of the fundamental concepts and ideas of existentialism, as well as the analysis and comparison of translation decisions and transformations in two Ukrainian translations. Our research has shown that the Ukrainian translations of A. Camus differ significantly in their interpretation of certain fragments of the original, and that A. Perepadia, in his translation «Сторонній», opts for the domestication of the original work, while P. Tarashchuk, in his translation «Чужий», mostly employs a strategy of foreignization. It has been established that the 28-year gap between the two Ukrainian translations of A. Camus's novel « L’Étranger » does not have a significant impact on their differences, which are rather due to interpretative variability caused by the phenomenon of retranslation.
