In the light of the interdisciplinary combination of scientific strategies and conceptualizations, military modernity in Ukraine is represented as a complex civilizational conflict, which rests on an ancient historical foundation. In the process of implementing the project, it is envisaged to work out a number of relevant research tasks: a) highlighting the socio-cultural nature of Russia's neo-imperial project as the basic basis of the modern civilizational confrontation with the democratic world; b) the understanding of tectonic temporal metamorphoses in the age of globalization caused by the full-scale stage of the Russian-Ukrainian war; c) delineation of the current state of the Russian-Ukrainian border as the terrain of a fierce competition of identities; d) clarifying the prospects, opportunities and challenges that Ukrainian society faced in the process of European integration; e) analysis of modern trends and strategies of "battles for history" in the field of historical memory, knowledge policy, cultural, educational and information policy, which have acquired new meanings in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict from the early modern era to our time; f) deconstruction of Russian historical narratives, which are used to justify and legitimize the military-political aggression of modern Russia against Ukraine. popup.description2 The project addressed topical issues related to the coverage and understanding of the nature of the current Russian-Ukrainian war. The constitution of racism as the ideological and political basis of Putin's neo-imperial project in Russia is considered. The genesis of the concept of ‘racism’ is clarified. It is proved that racism combines a set of narratives and instruments of political influence. Attention is focused on the conservative turn in the Russian Federation. It is emphasised that the main reason for the Russian-Ukrainian war is the racist transformation of Putin's political regime. The author highlights the range of challenges, problems and tasks of European integration faced by modern Ukraine. Realistic and pessimistic scenarios of the international situation in the light of the challenges of the current Russian-Ukrainian war are considered. It is emphasised that cultural diversity is the basis of European cultural development. It is shown how the cultural context influences the formation of identities. It is emphasised that the ‘encounter’ with ‘foreign’ cultures can cause misunderstandings or a ‘conflict of interpretations’. The state of the Russian-Ukrainian borderland as a space of identity competition is analysed. The destructive role of both Soviet and old imperial heritage is revealed. The crisis dimensions of the identification strategies of border societies are outlined. It is noted that social and cultural environments are the main factors influencing the formation of identities. The genesis of identity confrontations on the Ukrainian-Russian border is comprehended. It is proved that modern conflicts are almost not subject to traditional schemes. It is noted that they are rapidly escalating to inter-civilisational confrontations. It is emphasised that military modernity requires the consistent dissemination of national values in the cultural and media spaces. Product Description popup.authors Blashchuk Svitlana M.
